Ambition is a great driver - but too much can be equally de-motivating. The trick is not to bite off more than you can chew - although I'm not sure I can measure this in any real sense. How can we decide what's the Goldilocks - just right - amount?

I suspect it comes from experience - I have built in ambition meters for work where I know from experience when people are deluding themselves with what can be done in the time frame. However in art I am still learning what I can do in the time frame, I'll need another couple of years to know

As for Goldilocks wasn't she just an influencer who stole everyone else's stuff?

I'm still working out what's right for me, I have a habit of taking on 'stuff' and only realising a way down the line that I've overcommitted - most recently in my commitments to others that aren't work related!

Don't know about influencer - she was definitely a thief - but one who knew what she wanted.

Fortunately I know someone who is good at time management for the over committed…

I need to check on the painting today.

It's true what you say, David. I call it ‘mouths too full’ syndrome.

We’re all taught to ‘dream big,’ but rarely taught to assess the jaw strength required.

I have seen too many companies declare ‘mission accomplished’ at go live, only to choke on change management six months later.

Thank you for the mention, my friend.

And that is all the endorsement of this post that I need - we’ve both seen it all too often. I wonder if it is connected to the Dunning-Kruger effect?

Dunning and Kruger are the two idiots who sit in the room when we need to make feature decisions. Always loud - Always wrong and still somehow getting paid ugh

Drink more coffee. That’s what I think. Art has no respect for time.

I kinda thought you might try to make the operational sheet look good, but I guess continuing on with your vision makes better sense 😄

Have a great week, David!
